Just one win from four starts does not make for pretty reading for Australian supporters, coaches and least of all the players.

But that is the Wallabies’ record at Subiaco Oval in games against the visiting South Africans, who make a return to Western Australia’s premier sporting venue this week.

Their poor record in Perth, compounded by the fact that most of the Australian squad live and play in the eastern states, has led many pundits to question the advantage held by the Wallabies at the ground.

Adding to that is the strong following enjoyed by the Springboks in Perth on the back of a large ex-pat population that has settled in the city.
