    MacDonald has training scare

The following article is about All Black Leon McDonald but is a quality piece of in-depth journalism...

Leon MacDonald can consider himself lucky to be back in black this weekend after a training mishap on Wednesday almost counted him out.

MacDonald, an outstanding figure at fullback in the Crusaders' dominant Super 14 victory this season, was named to replace Mils Muliaina after coming from the bench in the last two Test wins over Ireland and England.

However, his chances of playing his 54th All Black Test were cast into jeopardy when coming off second-best in a heavy training ground clash with lock Ali Williams.

Unsurprisingly, MacDonald was the one to suffer in crashing into a player 16kgs heavier than himself and appeared to roll his ankle in a serious manner.

    Welcome aboard ABF

Possibly Laura is commenting on the storm in a tea cup "nothingness" of the incident:

"MacDonald ... appeared to roll his ankle in a serious manner.

The injury appeared so bad that coach Graham Henry 'thought he was out of the Test match' as MacDonald hit the ground in pain.

However, it wasn't as bad as it looked...."

A bit like a commentator raving about a try of the year, if only the player didn't drop the ball over the line, or an amazing tackle that didn't actually stop the ball carrier.

Don't worry, we aren't picking on your beloved Blacks...yet
