I've finally taken the Chief up and posted a thread for the Bulls. I hope all the Red and Black Supporters jump on board and use this forum for the benefit of the Club and community rugby.

Got the weekly email from the Pres this week and there was some good news for all people living in the hills and wanting to go to the home Western Force games.

FREE BUS FROM THE KALAMUNDA HOTEL

Thats right. The Kalamunda is providing a free bus to and from the Western Force Home games. Contact Nial or Tim at the pub for more details.

Junior Registration went really well, however more numbers are needed to round out numbers for different teams. If you live in the Eastern Metropolitan Region and want to play for the only Premier Club in the district see the website for contact details

Western Australian club finalist for Australian Sports award


WA's Kalamunda Rugby Club has added to its long list of achievements, after being selected as a finalist in the Club Development category of the prestigious 2006 Ausport Awards.

Finalists in this category needed to demonstrate an improvement in services that identified and addressed the needs of the Club, and deliver the best possible service to their members.

Kalamunda was one of three WA Clubs chosen in 2004 to introduce a management program for volunteers - the Rio Tinto WA Future Fund, a project initiated through RugbyWA's partnership with Rio Tinto and the WA Department of Sport and Recreation.

Since 2004, Kalamunda has grown from 43 volunteers to 97 moving into the 2006 season, led by volunteer coordinator Denise Gittings and President Rob Mold.

The club will be hoping to add to its accolades after an outstanding year in 2005, in which it won the Western Australian Award for Best Volunteering Practices and the RugbyWA Best Practice Club Award. Kalamunda was also one of four Rugby clubs in Australia to be used for a case study by the ARU on volunteering practices.

Kalamunda volunteer coordinator Denise Gittings will represent the club at the awards, courtesy of the Australian Sports Commission who are flying her to Melbourne for the presentation breakfast at the International Conference on Sport on March 11.

The other finalists are Hazelbrook Soccer Club and Mininera and District Netball Association.

Congratulations to Kalamunda for the effort and commitment the club has demonstrated in advancing rugby in WA.

Ok all you rugby wannabes and couch supporters.

Time to get of the couch (mine has a permanent impression of my arse) and get down to the club for the Kalamunda Firkin Fourths.

This boys are playing in the 6th grade competition (and we know thats fairly social) with emphasis on having a run but mainly having a really good time.

All TWF supporters, if you haven't played before or for a long time get down to a club (any club) and have a go. We want people playing and enjoying - not just watching and commentating (there's enough retired Wallaby's for that)

Kalamunda Bulls won the Bayswater 10 aside competition held at Morley yesterday.

Going through the pool matches unbeaten, Kalamunda had to take on Wanneroo in the final (who got there by putting Nedlands to the sword) which was played in stifling heat.

Kalamunda ran out the winners 5 tries to 1 in an impressive display of cohesive team play and well drilled rugby.

Needless to say, this being a public holiday today, the boys enjoyed a few winning ales in the Bayswater Club till late.

Congrats to all the players who took part.

Whats also great is the prize money (less a few expenses for the brown foamy stuff) has been donated to the Injured Players Fund which benefits fellow team members for out of pocket medical expenses.

Hey Redbull, is there any official word on what is happening with the Bulls assigned Force players?
There is a few rumours doing the rounds out there but would obviously take more notice of any Club anouncement.

The saga so far.......

EWF players were excused from thursday nights for 4 weeks leading up to local games season kick off (that is they could go to their allocated clubs for training)

To date none had turned up for any training sessions however 1 had turned up for a preseason game

Rudi V was still recovering from injury and Luke Doherty was starting for the force.

The Thursday night before the game 3 allocated players to Kala turned up. One unable to train (injured shoulder) 2 were tired from force training but one trained anyway (Rudi V) the other turned up in thongs (no gear)

Instructions from the academy was that they all got 80 minutes of rugby on saturday. Our club has availability policies i.e no pay fees - no play, no turn up to training - no play.

2 were advised that they would start for reserve grade (40 minutes) then come of the bench for Premiers (40 minutes). This is the same that we applied to 2 club players on the night. Did not go down well.

Have since left the club and have been allocated to clubs closer to where they live - Cott and Neddies.

Rudi V turned out for the club against Bayswater.

Unfortunately most of the players contracted to EWF want to play for clubs close to where they live. This means the likes of Neddies, Cott, Assoc, Wests.

Kudos for standing by club policies. Who decided on the re-allocation of Western Force players?

Crying shame about Vedelago getting injured! Does that leave you with no Western Force players now?

While it is a loss to you on paper, they aren't much good to you if they are Hollywooding and not there to learn how the Club plays are they!?

Who is seen as the "bad guy" in this? That is, will RWA try and allocate more players in the future?
It has always seemed a little optimistic of RWA to me to think that it would be all plain sailing getting people living within practicle distance from their work place (ie Perry Lakes and Subiaco Oval) to travel to the more distant Clubs regulary.
You would think it may have been easier for fringe players though, especially those who will be in WA during the Rep season.
As Coach says, a great shame re Rudi apart from the obvious. I've never met the bloke but he strikes me as someone who would be good to have around the place as a positive role model for the squad?
I wonder how the likes of Rockingham and Wanneroo are fairing with their Force player relations?

Rudi is a top bloke and well liked around the club. So still allocated to our club are Rudi and Luke Doherty

Basically life goes on, just got to get on with it. Possible reallocation later in the season or with the new influx of recruits next year.

So, all the clubs are told is that they must play the players, not really in the interest of club development and rugby development in WA. I would have thought that the time best spent would be training with the club players.

I hope that there are not many players showing such disrespect to the local clubs as you have experienced.

Well it looks like the Bulls have received a lot of support for their stand, not only here, but from the other clubs as well.

Hi All

Sorry for the late email this week but hopefully it should bring you up to date on the recent comings and goings at the club.

This week sees the Bulls taking on Kalamunda at Home. The Easter break came at the right time for the Bulls and they should be back to almost full strength against the seagulls.


This week we welcome on board the Powerdrive Kalamunda Cheer Squad. The girls from Fit2Cheer have been working flat out in the preseason to put together cheers and chants for the club supporters to get involved with. Halftime will see the girls put on a routine which will make you appreciate why they are national champs at their chosen sport.

In our bid to make Hartfield Park the fortress of Kalamunda Rugby we are also launching a supporter of the day award for home games. So all you supporters get out the red and black and get down to the ground.

Also debuting will be the new first grade jerseys and a new style of jersey for the other grades. Club merchandise has replica first grade jerseys (supporter’s jerseys) on sale for $75 incl GST. Sizes currently are L XL XXL and XXXL.

Continuing our week of firsts, the women’s team will be in action for the first time this season with a hit out at Hartfield Park.

Games kick off at 12.20pm at the club so see you there.

News to Hand

The club was successful in obtaining a Heathway’s Healthy Club grant for the development of our sun smart strategy. We are pretty well advanced in what makes a healthy club but the sun smart program was something that we needed to work on. Expect to see things happening around the club (mainly with Juniors) as we roll this out.

A big thank you to all the individuals and families who donated or purchased raffle tickets for the raising of funds for Peter Adams. Peter asked me to extend his thanks to all the club members who helped out. I would also like to thank Mitch Hardy from Rugby WA who donated some Western Force Merchandise and an autographed ball for the day.

Also a big thank you to Chris Aldridge (Juge (Spelling?) who repainted the Bulls on top of the Club House. They look sensational.

Ambulance Insurance

It is the nature of our game that injuries can and do occur and all players and parents should be prepared for their eventuality.

If you do not have private health insurance with ambulance cover the strongly urges you to be come a member of St Johns Ambulance. The annual fee is around $22-25 and provides you with free ambulance travel. If you do not have ambulance cover the cost is around $500 and this is not covered by club, Rugby WA or ARU insurance and must be paid by you.

Not sure where to post this but it was pleasing to see ex Kalamunda Player Tamati Williams selected for the All Blacks 15.

Well done Tamati.

On the weekend Canterbury v Northlands he played both tight head and loose head prop during the game at different times.

"Whangārei-born Williams’ rise has been accelerated by Joe Moody’s foot injury, but he’s been touted as a point of difference player since the Crusaders named him in their squad ahead of the 2021 season.

Williams weighs about 140kg and is 1.94m tall, can play both loosehead and tighthead prop, is mobile and deceptively fast.

Having moved to Perth with his family when he was only a few months old, Williams attended Aranmore Catholic College and played both league and rugby in Western Australia.

That was until parents Johnny and Natalie decided to return to Northland and moved Williams and sisters Kenya and Terina to Kāeo in 2016."

We cannot claim him but we can be proud of him and hope that his time in WA had some influence on his career,
