Newcastle Falcons is holding a Farewell Charity Dinner for legendary Falcons and Australia fullback Matthew Burke.
The black tie dinner will be held on Wednesday August 6 at the Hilton Newcastle-Gateshead. Proceeds raised from the evening will go to Matt Burke’s chosen charity, the Falcons Community Foundation.
Tickets to the Farewell Charity Dinner are available at £70 per person, or £750 for a table of 12. The evening will include a drinks reception, three-course meal with half bottle of wine per person and entertainment. Bookings for tables of 12 will receive a limited edition photo.
The evening will include interviews with Matt and other key people involved in his time at Newcastle, and will focus on his highlights and memories from four great years at Kingston Park.
Matt joined the Falcons in 2004 and wrote himself into Newcastle sporting history scoring 26 tries and a total of 430 points in his 81 games. His magnificent career includes winning the World Cup with Australia in 1999 scoring an outstanding 25 points against France in a dramatic final in Cardiff.
The 35 year old full back has spent the last seven months recovering from a severe knee injury and has reluctantly taken the decision to hang up his boots and end a remarkable playing career.
All the proceeds raised on the evening will go to the Falcons Community Foundation which is a charitable organisation focusing on grass roots sport, club development, social inclusion, health and education through the support of Newcastle Falcons' players as exceptional role models.
Newcastle Falcons past and present will be in attendance, along with the Western Force team who Newcastle Falcons play in a pre-season friendly on Friday August 8.

The dinner forms just part of a week of events to mark Matt's farewell to Newcastle. With a Twenty20 cricket game, Falcons v Western Force, to be announced, along with a kids' coaching camp prior to Matt's final farewell at the Western Force game on Friday August 8.
