Who Called the Referree a ...?

Sometimes, although not often, amongst the barrage of undeserved abuse hurled at our Refs, you come across a few gems. Here are a couple that came out of the Palmyra /Wests game.

"Hey Ref, if you were any more one eyed you'd be standing on a column in Trafalgar Square".

"Watch out Ref, Richard Kimble's here to get you".

Heard this one at Basketball last week- the ref in question had a pretty serious monobrow:

Hey Ref- Did your eyebrows fall down so you can't see???


Acutally, it makes a really crappy anecdote, but it was funny at the time.

Yep. Positive.

Best line I heard during a game was from a player during a Women's semi about 4-5 years ago: Setting the scrum, going through the engagement sequence - a couple of false starts requiring a re-set. Hooker for one team (also the captain): "Come on girls, this is easy, even the blokes can do it"

As for comments to the ref (which is spelt 'referee', by the way - not 'referree' or 'ump'), I mostly zone out and don't hear them. Ages and ages ago I was amused by the bloke who yelled "hey ref, you're missing a good game here". But I was only amused the first time I heard it, not the 2nd or 945th time.....

I think one of my fav's is one that jargs screams out at every game we go to "Ref your mother swims out to troop ships"
