    Rugby makes Wembley debut

    Rugby makes Wembley debut

    22/04/2008 6:38:20 AM

    PA Sport

The British Olympic Association has announced that the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games in London will be marked by a rugby match between the Barbarians and Australia.

The match on December 3 at Wembley Stadium will mark the centenary of the 1908 Games and of the Olympic rugby union final between Great Britain and Australia.
It will be the first time a rugby union match has taken place at the new national stadium.

In 1908 the Wallabies defeated a Great Britain side (represented by the county of Cornwall) 32-3, to claim the gold medal.

BOA chief executive Simon Clegg said: "It is appropriate to mark the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games first coming to London and this game at Wembley is a unique chance to see top class international rugby played at one of the world's greatest venues."

90,000 capacity so shouldn't be too difficult....I know the English 6 nations tests were on ticketmaster as well so no need to get someone to line on on your behalf at the front of Wembley stadium at 5am.

Not necessarily, I think Setanta has bigger buying power when it comes to NH games and now it has a outlet down here it would probably not want to sell the rights to Foxtel, so as to try to encourage people to get thier package...plus does it even have Test status?
