For Week 8, when only one South African team played at home, we give statistics of getting possession and we give some totals. There are no marks for guessing which team has the worst disciplinary record!

Sanctions
There were cards all right, the worst a red card for the Tongan Epi Taione who had recently joined the Sharks from Japan. He got a red card for a gross headbutt and has tp face a disciplinary hearing.
Lions' prop Ross Geldenhuys has been cited..
There were yellow cards for Fetu'u Vainikolo for a later shoulder charge, Neemia Tialata for a late tackle and several for tackle infringements - Keven Mealamu, CJ van der Linde, Callum Bruce, Faifili Levave, Scott Fava and Deon Stegman.

It's interesting to note that the teams with the highest rate of cards and citings are all on the bottom of the table except the Sharks

ergo being naughty on the pitch doesn't win games - Ergo the Refs ain't doing to badly (apart from Fava - watched the replay and don't reckon he was offside !)

I was very interested to see the stoppages per match.....I was under the impression from watching our games that we were a counterattacking team who are interested in keeping the ball in play and letting our fitness do the talking, but I think every second round our game tops the stoppages per match, and we're usually in the top three for stoppages. Those stats don't say who initiated the stoppage, but it's an interesting statistic.

The other intersting part of that statistic....Our lowest number of stoppages per match are the two matches in new zealand, The Blues was our best match this year (well, toss of a coin with the 'Saders, but we won the Blues) and also the lowest stoppages.
