Luke Holmes and Dave Pocock - The Why Generation

This is retyped from Crispi's Corner in the LineBreak Magazine - versus the Bulls

"Dave Pocock who won the RUPA Newcomer of the Year Award in recognition of off field and on field performances and his good mate Luke Holmes have collaborated in establishing and launching a charity, called the Why Generation, the charity aims to "Inspire this generation to take it upon themselves to make a change for good, to right wrongs and smoother injustice".

Bam and Holmsey currently assist communities in southern Africa and help homeless people in Perth. Check out their website on:"

    Just checked out the website.
It is interesting that the major media outlets are pretty happy to throw footy players getting whacked or whacking each other as their lead stories.
Why aren't the media giving time to two young blokes doing something like this I ask you?
    Very impressive, Well done guys!!

I've chatted with pocock about this before.
He, like me, is a staunch christian and we both share a common music interest in the Australian/Internationally known christian music Hillsong United.
And this Why Generation is part of a call to arms by the church group for the new generation to step up and make a difference in this world.

I'm a huge fan of Pocock both on and off the field.
He carries himself so well off the field, doesnt let the fame go to his head yet does his best to make a difference in society. The fact that he and Holmes use their free time in Africa to visit children and orphans is a testament that not all rugby players are bad.

The force have gotten so much media coverage over the Henjak and Quokka incident. But the media has failed to acknowledge and identify that the force have also got players, like these two, who are doing their part to make a difference in this world. its a huge injustice to the force and the playing group as a whole to only portray the team in a bad image, when we really are a team that does our part for the society, eg raise money through swimathons.

Worth a boost and I have heard the work in South Africa is to expand in the next fortnight.

It seems our Dave was on the ground while the bye was on and he was looking at the set up while he was in Durban for the his mates wedding
