Sacked Western Force halfback Matt Henjak is hopeful of playing rugby in Europe next northern season.

A month after Australian Rugby Union boss John O'Neill ripped up the troubled scrumhalf's contract, the former Wallaby looks set to be offered a lifeline from the rugby wilderness by a European club.

"I've had three or four top European clubs express interest in me for the next northern hemisphere season," the 26-year-old Henjak said in a statement through his manager Greg Keenan.

"My agent is in discussions with those clubs and hopefully something will get worked out in the not too distant future.

"I would have to head to Europe in July to commence pre-season training.

"In the meantime, I'm training hard so that when an opportunity presents itself I'll be ready."

Henjak had his contract with the Force torn up in the aftermath of an alcohol-fuelled brawl in which team-mate Haig Sare suffered a broken jaw.

It was the latest in a line of off-field indiscretions for Henjak who, in 2005, became the first Wallaby to be sent home from tour in 40 years after an incident in a Cape Town nightclub.

Yep, I've always been a great believer in fresh starts, they give you the opportunity to turn over a new leaf and do stuff right again. Hope he makes the most of it, He's too good a scrummie to play out his days in the morass that is NH rugby!

This is good to hear...considering a number of people thought he would just sit on his a$$. Glad to hear he is doing well.

Im proud of him and wish him all the best with a quick Northern Hemisphere stint so he can come back with a fresh outlook and a new experience under his belt.
