The Emirates Western Force have finished their tour of South Africa with a dour 18-16 win over the Lions in Johannesburg this morning (WA time).

First half tries to Cameron Shepherd and Tamaiti Horua were not enough to give the visitors a half time lead, as some accurate goal kicking from Louis Strydom and a try to Jaco van Schalkwyk put the Lions ahead 16-15.

A penalty to Shepherd in the 54th minute was the only score in a scrappy second half.

Ryan Cross and Scott Fava were in good form for the Emirates Western Force, who will return home with two wins and a bonus point loss in the Republic.

The Emirates Western Force will now play the Crusaders in Perth on Sunday 9 March at 5.10pm.
