Giteau 16 - Cheetahs 15

Dominated the stats, 63% possession, only 50 tackles made, 2 missed tackles against the cheetahs 118 tackles and 20 missed. Slight concern with the scrums, but that will become better over the next few weeks.

A bit lucky in the end there, but we didn't have any luck last week.

The Cheetahs defence in this game was absolutely intense....luckily we don't have to play them again this season

I am going to look forward to my folks watching the game tommorrow morning, I can tell by the end of the game my dad will be swearing and in all kind of a huff, as he does, and then the kick will be over and it'll be like Christmas all over again.

The forwards experiment DIDN'T work....Pek is too inexperienced and Takiari is a useless former Tah, AJ and Boof is the only way to do it....Mitchell was outstanding, Shepherd will be lucky to get his full back spot back if Mitchell keeps it up....

It would have been a damn shame if we didn't walk away with the 4 points. No one can say we didn't deserve to win given all that possession and the character we showed in coming back again and again and never giving up.

I always knew we'd win but gotta admit I got a bit worried when Horua gave away that penalty with less than 2 mins to go. But it doesn't matter now..

Bloody Marvellous - bit pissed at 6PR though. Feed quality might have been poor but it was still worth listening to. Reckon they advertised it but the presenter seemed pretty happy to keep his talk show going!

God it was like falling out of a burning 747 and landing in a hot tub in the playboy mansion. For the players I thought our best were Drew, Gits, Sharpie and Luke Holmes (who I think deserves an Australia A call up at the least!). Pek Cowan seemed a bit out of his depth and hopefully a replacement of the ARC or a tour to England (please!) will bring him up a few notches. Tom Hockings did pretty well I thought. Apart from that awesome 50 odd metre run Sam Wykes didn't seem to be into the game much. David Pocock and Richard Brown were also good but didn't seem to play as well as they normally do. And for an 80 minute performance in only his second Super 14 game I think Stannard was excellent. Never doing anything too outrageously brilliant but just being a consistent performer under a lot of pressure and as far as I'm concerned only making one mistake all game (the blindside attack late in the first half) which we recovered from anyway. Double thumbs up from me.

I think another great thing about this win was the fact that we could/should have done better. Last year when we played the Lions we came into the game with two big wins in SA and we were all really confident for that one and we dominated the game but just made too many mistakes. We made a lot of almost tries tonight but importantly still won so hopefully we'll finish well against the Lions next week.
