The ARL has just announced their list of the 100 greatest Australian RL players.
68 people judged the list. How could so many miss one the best (that I've seen) few players, of either code, captain coach of my team, The Doggies
Kevin Ryan represented Australia in both Rugby and Rugby League and was an integral member of seven successive winning Grand Final teams for St George. He was later captain-coach and coach of Canterbury-Bankstown. His nickname 'Kandos' (as in cement) captured his approach to the game, hard and durable, physically large and mobile, his ferocious commitment made him a feared and respected opponent.
Mr Ryan was admitted as a barrister-at-law in 1970. He also in the 1970s pursued a political career. He became a councillor then Mayor of Hurstville and, from 1976 to 1984, was a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly.
