This is the ideal game for Pek to get one under his belt. He had a hard time coping with Blake in the trial.....we all saw it, and he needs to get used to the pace. In this game he'll be up against some massive beef (I'm not sure who, but they sure breed 'em big those Cheetahs) and the scrum will be a real battle. I think Mitch sees this as a move which will blood him, without too much risk.....Why Boof misses out is because AJ is an 80 minute player now...he'll step in anytime Pek is giving too much ground.

As for Daruda, I think he's more versatile than Lachy, but we've named three 10's in this squad, I'd suggest some contingency planning in case Chucky wears out or doesn't quite make the grade, Gits to 9, Lachy to 10 Daruda at 12, Crossy and Spanner have that side of the field LOCKED UP out wide, and the attack will be forced towards the centre of the park.

I can see it working, and being a good way of blooding some newer talent without risking the game.

I'd suggest that the three tens experiment is also to see how much we need to worry about signing a third specialist 9 (if it works this week, we might just play the season with 2 nines and wait for our future stars to develop!)

I think Daruda will have a blinder.....he performed well during the ARC and I wouldn't be surprised to see him doing the kicking to take some pressure off Gits..

    oh..and btw...he's a good Nudgee boy

    I did not....

The real story is that Boof Hardy has been bitten by a shark.

I am now tracking down the name of that Shark.

I question the idea of using a relatively inexperienced back row considering its the Cheetahs main strength. I suppose the idea of running them ragged and then bringing on the experienced guys to iron out the result does sound good though. I'd disagreeing with Zim on this one though I think the Cheetahs are better out wide than they are in the centres.

I also worry that with these kinds of changes Mitch is thinking of having an experience building year rather than a lets have a crack at the finals year.

BTW - this match will be called live on 6PR, RugbyWA will have their online text updates and it is slightly possible that the game may be stream via 6PR also - it would appear that it was last week, so worth a look in if you have no other means of watching/listening in just in case they forget to tuen off the "Live STream" switch - check here : http://www.mytalk.com.au/aspx/pages/...?t=radio&w=6PR

Depth depth and more depth - can't have enough - remember the Reds last year - 13 guys were out at same time - our reserves are the goods too - if they can't beat the Cheetahs then we will have major problems later in the season- we are unlikely to go an entire season without loosing at least one more "A" list player - imagine trying to develop combinations/match fitness etc.. in the Crusader Game

I hope so, I was listening to 6pr online, when everything went quiet and stopped at kickoff. Had to run around trying to find a portable radio

As for the line up..I will not doubt the decisions of the master John Mitchell.

Mitchell must set his dogs off the leash and let Nick Cummins, Drew Mitchell and Ryan Cross at them in a 7's run off from the 22m.

Those fat Cheetah bastards must be sucking oxygen come half time and on their knees for the water boys in the 3rd quarter.

The Force have it in them to toss the ball out wide and head for the sticks - the Cheetahs will try and consume the Force in the scrum - which is the South African style of play imprinted on their players - run at them at every opportunity - with every donation of ball kicked at our backline.

I'm not so sure about your last sentence Haymaker...Of the SA franchises, the Cheetahs would be my pick for the LEAST forward oriented, Particularly Set Piece...They generally have huge men, but seem to be only average at the scrum and lineout.... I'd suggest,
    1 They'll tire early
2 The Backs (Particularly Centres and Wingers) will see a lot of ball
3 Our outside backs are twice as good as theirs.

If we can run them around enough in the first twenty this will be a cake walk for us. Particularly bringing super AJ off the bench. Look out for a 60 metre game from him in 30 minutes. He'll run rampant once they've been exhausted by the youngens!

Gits'll play the magician all game, and Drew and the rest of the back three will be running onto passes all day!

The set peice battles will be good to watch, last year it was a good scrum and line out contest.

And that is what happened - even if there was an outcry that the ref failed to see the forward pass.

We take the win and press on.
