WESTERN Force star and PerthNow columnist Cameron Shepherd says the side was happy with its trial against the Crusaders at the weekend.

I thought we controlled the game in Melbourne pretty well. A lot of teams try to play the Crusaders at their own game and come off second best but we stuck to our plan. We were physical at the break down and in attack and we retained the ball.
