    CHIEFS five-eighth Tasesa Lavea will miss the Super 14 rugby season after tearing a foot ligament during a pre-season game against the Highlanders last weekend.

    Lavea, 28, will undergo surgery next Tuesday.

    Lavea is not expected to put his full weight on the foot for three months after the operation, Chiefs management said.

    The Chiefs have not yet decided who will replace Lavea in their squad.

    It's certainly going to hurt them. Stephen Donald and Lavea were working really well together for the Chiefs last year.

    No point having great backs if they don't get quality ball. Or if the defense focussed on them because they know the inside channel is a little weak.
