Choose Your ANZAC Sqaud

Hey Everyone,

It's been a very slow afternoon at the superstore so we got to thinking about how awesome it would be to have an ANZAC team vs the world... or the Lions. The team would be made up of those eligible to be selected for their respective super 14 teams either from Australia or New Zealand. (not including those playing in Europe at the moment).

Then we got to thinking about how ridiculously hard it would be to choose a team given the sheer amount of talent from both countries. So for a squad of 22, who would you pick? Thought it would interesting to post this up on TWF to see what sort of teams people would put together.

So that would be our team. Tried to slot an Aussie into the front row... and failed... miserably.

Just off the top of my head, aren't Hayman and Kelleher in Europe?

BTW, ANZAC Team - Western Force Rugby Supporters Site and ANZAC XV - Western Force Rugby Supporters Site for past history.

Not surprising really, it is a fairly compelling concept. Putting on my idealising glasses, I would have world rankings a year out from the RWC loosely determine the pools (think I've described that elsewhere). In the last year, rather than having dead rubber tests, I'd have a round robin competition between the Lions, Anzacs, Africans+Europeans, Americas and Pacific Islanders run at venues around the world as an exhibition of rugby and fundraiser for all the minor countries.

I'm confused, are you saying that there are no capable loose forwards in the shaky isles other than McCaw (the cheat) and O' Solo mio alo?

Waugh only makes Wallabies teams because he has photos of John Connolly playing golf with Satan!
