World rugby champions South Africa could have a new coach by early tomorrow (NZ time).
Interviews of the short-listed candidates, to replace Jake White, who stood down after winning the World Cup in France last year, finished in Cape Town early today (NZ time).
Shortlisted for the job are recent South Africa assistant coach Allister Coetzee, former Super 12 Cats coach Chester Williams, SA Under-21 coach Peter De Villiers and former Bulls Super 14 coach, Heyneke Meyer, who is considered the favourite.
The committee charged with selecting a candidate interviewed Coetzee and Williams early today while Meyer and De Villiers were interviewed yesterday.
The committee is expected to forward their selection to the South African Rugby Union’s Presidents Council for approval tonight with the new coach expected to be named early tomorrow (NZ time).
