Western Force boss set to quit

7th January 2008, 14:30 WST

The inaugural chief executive of Perth's Western Force Super 14 rugby union team, Peter O'Meara, is expected to stand down this afternoon.

RugbyWA has called a press conference for 3.30pm this afternoon where it has flagged an important announcement from Mr O'Meara.

It is understood Mr O'Meara, who was one of the club's first executive appointments, will announce he has resigned from the position.

A former Commonwealth Bank executive who had previously sat on the boards on the NSW and Queensland rugby unions, Mr O'Meara was recruited by RugbyWA in February 2005 ahead of the Western Force's inaugural year in the Super 14 competition in 2006.

I think the realities of Professional sport and life is that people move, I don't think we need to help fuel the East Coast media by trying to read a conspiracy into every turn of the Force Administration.

Yeah, this is not a sacking or a resignation, it's the end of a contract. People move on in those times.
