The point a few people are missing is that the Captains were briefed before the Test and were compelled to report ANY racist comments they heard on the field OR in the crowd, it HAD to be reported.

What happened a couple of years ago, when after being given out Darren Lehmann upon entering the Australian change rooms yelled "b***k c***s" and was heard only by the Sri Lankan team manager, he copped a 4 game suspension, but India decided to throw their opinion in then when it wasn't their concern. Now that someone from that region gets accused of making racist remarks to an Australian player the world tells us that we are soft skinned etc. There is no place in any sport for racism regardless of where your from, be it Australia, India or Uzbekistan for that matter. The Indians are really reaching when it comes to their complaint against hoggy, jesus India get some thicker skin.......wait a minute

The ball hit the ground;regardless whether he had a firm grip on it or not,it is not out as the catch was not completed,he was falling to ground.Similar to taking a catch, then stepping over the boundary.
I dont think you will find too many people agreeing that he caught it

I've been resisting the urge to weigh in on the issue but have given up. To start off, I've never supported Australia in the cricket simply as one who likes to barrack for the underdog.

Having said that, I think the "incident" has been blown out of proportion, the Indians are sly but soft penises (trying to be polite here) who are projecting themselves as exponents of fair play and sportsmanship and just as incredibly, as victims, in an attempt to sway public opinion in their favour and dilute the monkey business.

Sad part of this is that it is working. The Australian public is split with focus now on the behaviour and attitudes of the Australian players and sympathy brewing for the poor Indians. Ponty resign? Absolute hogwash.

I've watched a few test matches in my time (on telly ofcourse) and when you watch the Indian players perform infront of their passionate home crowd, the aggressiveness and showmanship in their game is on par with that of Aussies. What about the taunts that their crowd dished the Aussies..I don't recall Aussie streets packed with crowds burning effigies. Hmm, kettle calling the pot black.

The last of my two cents is directed at the ICC. I doubt very much that Ponting, Symonds and Clark would stoop so low as to conspire and fabricate lies against H Singh (what of Sachin's testimony?). However, when the only evidence is he said-she said stuff then it cannot be judged to be conclusive/beyond a reasonable doubt and therefore benefit of doubt, I would think, should be afforded to the accused and a terse warning possibly would have been sufficient. As it stands, the door has been left open to contesting the decision and this only further compromises the Test series.

Agree with everything there KQ, except the last line, the only thing compromising the Test Series is the inflated ego's of the BCCI in holding the ICC to ransom.

Burgs mate you just hit the button with a sledge hammer, the BCCI thinks that it can hold the rest of the cricketing world hostage, shame the Indian cricket team is rubbish

It's just a convenient way to dodge having their arses handed to them on a plate on the hard WACA wicket.
Whacko Sutherland has them running scared now he has it back to "Lillee Express" standard

It all seems to have been blown out of proportion - if India had put up a fight and drawn (or maybe won?) the match, there'd be none of this, but they put up a poor showing therefore it's the Aussies faults for being poor sportsmen and the umpires fault for bad decisions.
And on the walking issue, it's kind of like saying in rugby, a player should say to the ref "sorry ref, that pass was forward, you missed it - let's stop the play and let the other team have the ball" - as if!
