Now, if only we had a spandex-ed superhero to leap into the fray... hmmm... anyone?

I was about to suggest AJ - but AJ in spandex is not the mental picture I was looking for at this time of night.

Nothing to see here. Move on, move on.

Palu resumes training after police clearance

    December 8, 2007 - 10:33AM

Wallabies forward Wycliff Palu will return to full training with the NSW Waratahs after police cleared him of any involvement in a nightclub incident which resulted in a patron being injured.

Police have met NSW rugby officials regarding the incident, which occurred in Sydney's west three weeks ago.[EDIT: Quokkas are more important]

No.8 Palu was stood down by the Waratahs this week.

"Wycliff has been treated as a witness only in the police investigation," NSWRU chief executive Jim L'Estrange said in a statement today.[EDIT: The police entered the interview room with much trepidation. The Palu stood 9ft tall and was not happy. The lead investigator briefly recalled a saying about discretion being the better part of valour....]

"As a result of the meeting with police I have withdrawn the disciplinary charge against Wycliff and he is free to resume team duties.

"We don't apologise for being decisive because consistency in our approach to disciplinary matters is paramount to our game.

"The good news is that Wycliff has no case to answer and we can get on with the job." [EDIT: Good, cos The Palu communicates with clicks and grunts]

Palu has played 17 Tests for Australia and featured prominently in Australia's failed World Cup campaign this year.

Shame it took 3 weeks to do something. Very swift and decisive

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Well, they don't speak for the SMH's swift and decisive action, the protocol there is that quokkas take precedence.

So how long was Palu stood down for? Did the Tahs wait for the SMH to run the story before they did anything?

Fava and Browne had no case (beyond a $100 infringement) to answer with authorities either. Not suggesting that Palu actually has a case to answer, but I wonder if the SMH are continuing their investigations just in case?

If form is true, Palu is already convicted by the media, despite having nothing (it seems) to do with the actual assault.

Of course, that's assuming no anti-Force junta at the SMH!
