    Dane Haylett-Petty

According to the official Force site, he's the first local WA player to earn a place in the squad. Great, but I hope there are many more to come through. Who do you reckon will be the next? Is Will Brock a chance?

Also I don't know much about Dane. Is he the goods?

Dane was at Bold Park Pools yesterday with the rest of the boys. Player Interviews coming up soon.

Will is off overseas to ply his trade. I'll actually be doing an interview with Will next week after he returns from Dubai Sevens (which starts in about 5 minutes) where he is palying for www.steelersrugby.com

That may be chronologically true, but I believe Kieran Longbottom is also a WA boy.

TIF, I'd heard Will was off but can't remember where...was it Europe somewhere?

Yeah, I'd dispute that on Kieran's behalf. Kieran ahs come through the force academy pathway, has Dane?

Dane is straight from schoolboys rugby into the Force squad AFAIK.

Kieran is a West Aussie, but I think he made the Force academy from Brisbane club rugby? Stoked to have two WA players in any case.

Sad that Brockie is going o/s. I hope it isn't because he feels he's been treated poorly by the Force.

Dane is a pretty good player. Watched him play Scotch this year. Even with a niggle in his groin, he was influential in the match. Scored an individual try in the first 5 mintues by running blindside. And he made some terrific line breaking runs, and almost had a second try but was stopped by the Scotch fullback, who actually made a bloody good tackle facing Dane 1 on 1. (Something to claim for the future, i think) So considering that scotch is the second best defensive team in the PSA, other than hale, its a mighty good effort by Dane.

Looking forward to seeing him play, but yet, i dont think he's gonna be given a run in his usual position of Fullback. Maybe on the wing or in Flyhalf?
