Nice work TIF! I'm a little worried about this game now. With so many people playing out of position and some new combos it may not be such a walk in the park. Canada did scare Wales pretty badly and Wales were supposed to be our key pool match...hmm...i don't like it one little bit

I've been thinking the same thing, but my only consolation is that it is all in the backs. The forwards are fairly settled, and that is where the Canadians are likely to come at us.

Lote seeks elusive tryline

Stand-in Wallabies skipper George Smith expects try-starved Lote Tuqiri to revel in his midfield shift and rub salt into Canada's World Cup wounds tomorrow.

Tuqiri has been moved from the right wing to outside centre in a patched-up Australian backline missing four injured players for their final Cup pool match.

Scott Staniforth's withdrawal with a shoulder injury triggered a domino effect of four changes and brought a resting Matt Giteau onto the bench.

Tuqiri will start alongside Adam Ashley-Cooper in the midfield at Bordeaux's Stade Chaban-Delmas hoping to break his tournament try drought.

While left winger Drew Mitchell is topping the World Cup try tally with five, including a hat-trick in Sunday's 55-12 win over Fiji, Tuqiri has gone close several times and had a hand in others but is yet to break through.

The multi-million-dollar star isn't putting pressure on himself against a confrontational Canadian outfit desperate to finish with a "bang".

But Smith believes the winless Canucks backs could be in for a torrid time with Tuqiri closer to the action.

"He's played there well before for Australia," said the 81-Test flanker. Bullshit

"I'm sure he'll demand more ball from that position and he's a player who loves to get the ball in his hands and create opportunities for his outside backs so I'm sure he'll revel in that job." and create plenty of turnovers and penalties...

Tuqiri, named vice-captain of a largely second-string side, is rapt to be starting after being told a week ago he was likely to be rested after just his fifth Test (against Fiji) since the Super 14.

"I love playing footy," he said. "I'm just not very good at it any more" "Once I start I don't like having a rest and I'd like to play all the way through.

"Coming from a (NRL) background of playing every week it was quite tough."

The last time a second-string Wallabies side played in the World Cup they trounced Namibia 142-0 in 2003 but fullback Chris Latham denied cricket scores would be a part of the mindset.

"The minute you start to do that your performance drops and you start doing things that are a fair way off the game plan," said Latham, who scored a record five tries against the Namibians in Adelaide.

"We drifted a little bit from that in the first half against Fiji and we sure new about that in the change rooms (at half-time)."

Canada made eight changes after their 12-all draw against Japan on Tuesday when the Cherry Blossoms scored a last-gasp converted try.

The Canucks have been competitive in all three pool B matches but are on the verge of coming away from a World Cup without a win for the first time.

"We had 24 hours of just thinking and living with that misery," coach Ric Suggitt said of the draw.

"I just hope these guys go out and finish with a bang and get what they deserve because they deserve a lot more than they have got so far."

The match holds extra significance for the Canadians as it's the World Cup swansong for 34-year-old lock Mike James, formerly coached by John Connolly in France.

James has played 56 Tests over 13 years after making his debut on May 21, 1994, exactly four weeks before George Gregan played his first Test against Italy.

The second-rower was a member of the Canada squad which proved a handful for the Wallabies in 1995 when they held them to 27-11 in Port Elizabeth.

They also led the AB's 'till nearly half time a few months back, in NZ too. But I'm sure the coaches have reminded the boys of those facts. They should be up for it and they should win. But probably not another 50 pointer.

i'm about to ask a stupid question here. i'm having a slow day.
will this affect our scrum? espically of there is new people in the centre. could the set plays after a scrum be less effective due to the changes?

I don't think it's stupid. There won't be any any set plays after anything, cause Lote will score a try every time and the Forwards will just have to walk back and wait for the restart.
