WA’s Schoolboys Division 1 side scored their first try of the tournament but they were unable to stop an avalanche of attacking pressure from Queensland 1 at the Australian Schools National Championships in Brisbane.
Scrumhalf Ethan Carslisle crossed for the West Aussies while Hemi Chase converted but that was the extent of their impact on the scoreboard as defence became the primary objective against a home town side with plenty of potency going forward.

Queensland ran in nine tries and converted eight times to take a comfortable 61-7 win on day two of the championships.

In other results Queensland II snuck through with a 27-26 win over a fast finishing Victoria while the other Pool A match saw NSW I defeat the Combined States side 10-6.

Rounding out Pool B action, NSW II defeated ACT 35-27, five tries to three.

Play resumes at Ballymore on Friday with ACT taking on WA as both teams look to record their first win, Combined States will face Victoria, Queensland II will play NSW I and Queensland I will play NSW II in Pool B.
