Well for what it's worth I thought he was a great player in his prime, but just hasn't cut it in recent years.

Just watched the replays of our last two games...I think his non selection will be a big mistake that will come back and bite us.
Good luck to him in France...an outstanding career unfortunately ending in some controversy and disharmony.

Dropping Giteau from the squad will greatly improve the Wallabies chances at the RWC

    Good luck Gits.

Should have always played at 12 or 13, never at 10.

A capped veteran like that is an asset to a team on a big stage like the WC. Hope some of the younger boys don't choke come game time.

Wallabies loss, at least he can tackle. Uh huh hum, Mr Cooper.

From an outsider looking in I would always have picked Git's based on playing ability for the world cup. His ability to play multiple posistions some undoubtedly better than others and his experinace got him across the line.
Aptitude and ability are woderfull things for a any sportsman to have and Gits has them in spades. These would be great in seclusion but not when you are playing in a team sport and attitude is just as important.
Where there is smoke there is fire. Gits has gone from one club to another and back again and strangly enough coach and player turmoil have followed him. Including into the Wallabies squad, where depth has been built in those positions that Gits covered so well for a lot of years. This depth was his downfall and then he came up against another Kiwi coach who from the look of it plays hard ball and doesnt pander to player whims.

I sitll remember going to Subi and seeing Gits play the first game for the Force i had seen at 12 with James Hilgendorf playing at 10. He stepped two players around the defence and scored under the posts. What a awesome player.

Yeah, agree with everything you've said grope. I reckon he'd still make my squad as a fringe player, because there's absolutely no doubt he has the skills. Perhaps there's a back story which we don't know, Phipps is obviously not anywhere near an international halfback yet, and Gits would happily replace him in the squad on skills. Actually I'd put him in before either Ant Faingaa or McCane, simply because he's not a crash-ball type.

It has to be attitude that's locked him out.......which fits perfectly with my impression of the man!

Gits should be on the plane. His experience is invaluable.

    As a flight attendant?

If they didn't pick gits on the fact he's going to France, then Burgess shouldn't have been picked either. But as eluded to earlier, there are other factors at play.

It's hard to know whether or not there is any truth to the rumours of him having a bad attitude and a personality clash with Deans. If so then I can see why he may have not made the squad. But he's still good enough to do a job for the Wallabies, albeit as a bench player and additionally he can cover any back line position. If Cooper is injured, whats our backup plan? Barnes?

When you've got a group of guys staying together for as long as the Wallabies are going to be in the RWC then a player who is known for being a trouble maker is extremely dangerous and can completely ruin the cohesion of the team. Even though he has the talent a team that is funtioning well together far outways what Gits can provide.

Deans is God when it comes to The Wallabies!

Not really, the Force had player unrest and a challenge to the coaching staff whilst he was there, the Brumbies sacked a coach due to player unrest whist he was there, the Wallabies have had a bit of simmering discontentment until recently, none of those three teams have performed to expectation whilst he was there.

My biggest issue is that I can see parallels beginning to develop in James O'Connor, why the hell do our most promising inside backs consider themselves to be so much bigger than the team?
