Reds take on demons in Pretoria

THE Queensland Reds will return to the scene of their most humiliating defeat when they trek to Pretoria to play the Bulls on the South African high veldt.
In the last game of their disastrous 2007 Super 14 season under Eddie Jones, the Reds capitulated to the Bulls 92-3 in Pretoria.
Under new coach Phil Mooney, the Reds avenged that loss last year with a 40-8 win against the Bulls in Brisbane.
Mooney said the debacle in Pretoria two years ago underlined the team's woeful away record in recent years and it is an issue they will address when they meet the Bulls again in the South African capital on Saturday.
"They took their cricket gear with them last time," Mooney said. "I'm not scarred. I wasn't there.
"But the Reds have to address their away record regardless of who we are playing.
"The Waratahs, the Brumbies and the Force play well away. That's the next stage of our development. We need to step up."
The Reds depart this morning with Mooney still mulling over a couple of positions.
Ben Lucas entered the pre-season as the Reds' No1 halfback, but he is facing a strong challenge from Will Genia.
There are only five survivors from the Bulls humiliation in the Reds current squad; Berrick Barnes, Quade Cooper, Sean Hardman, Peter Hynes and Brando Va'aulu.
