    What makes SBW tick.

I've always given SBW the benefit of doubt from the time he walked out on my lifelong Mungo club. I suspected there was more to that than what was in the press, who still seem to have their collective noses out of joint because his camp won't pander to them. Along those lines this article also provides some reasonably impartial insight to Khoder Nasser. It tallies pretty well with what I'd gleaned from between the lines over the past 5 or so years. Good luck and go well Sonny.

This is a comment about his sporting achievements. Definitely not about whether he (or Cooper or Mundine) engage brain before putting mouth into gear.

The man has a huge family that he feels he needs to look after and provide for I don't really have a problem with that if it is done in the right way

If Rugby Boards of different countries were a little more flexible I am sure there would be opportunities for players to do stints in other countries and competitions to supplement their wages from playing Rugby in NZ or Aus

Anyone know what the salary cap is for players in Super15 if there is indeed a salary cap

There is a cap, but the amount depends on whether or not you play for the Rebels!! I don't know the details but I know there is different cap for the Rebels compared to the rest of us!

Both codes have caps - with allowances for third party deals with conditions. In SBW's cade he was offered a contract extension to stay in France for more dosh than the Folau AFL deal. He's chosen to come back to the SH for much leds to achieve sporting goals instead. Another article in the SMH says he wants to rep for NZ in League again, go back to Rugby for the ABs in RWC. He then hopes to switch to 7's and devote more time to boxing.

I hope he achieves all those goals. And makes a truckload of money along the way.

Thanks for listening to my many rants on this issue Alison. I'll try and clarify it a bit more.

Australian teams are allowed to spend 4.3 million dollars on 30 players (not sure if the amount has changed, nor whether the 5 EPS contracts are included) the Marquee player and the Development player is included in this cap, but at a nominated value (110,000 pa) the remainder of their salary is ignored by the ARU as long as it doesn't sent the province bankrupt (pay for them however you want) Melbourne, with it's allowance of 10 marquee players on startup effectively had the opportunity to buy 10 world class superstars for the bargain basement sum of 1.1 million, leaving 3.2 million for the remaining 20 contracts.

Some quick sums tells me that the rebels were allocated enough to pay everybody approximately 165,000 bucks a year the Force (with their 2 development players) approx 151,000 and everybody else 147,000

The above figures assume Melbourne used all their marquees, had a development player (Ged Robinson) and development players were worth 50k under the salary cap.

If those assumptions were accurate, the Rebels could pay EVERYONE ON THEIR ROSTER 55 k a year more than the marquees were assessed at LEGALLY

Not entirely sure if I've got everything right, but the general gist is that we have been shafted since we started!

I like the words coming out of HQ Jo, but words are cheap!

I'm still trying to contain my excitement until I see some results.

Good article - but my opinion has not changed.

SBW is the most over rated player in both Rugby and League.
