NSW Waratahs' five-eighth Berrick Barnes plays it cool on Rebels
Australia playmaker Berrick Barnes will make a decision on his future when he returns from the New South Wales Waratahs' tour of South Africa in two weeks.
There has been speculation Barnes and Waratahs prop Benn Robinson are set to reject offers from Super 15 expansion franchise Melbourne Rebels and remain in Sydney.
While Robinson is set to stay with the Waratahs, Barnes's future is more uncertain.
Barnes, who left Queensland Reds at the end of last year in controversial circumstances, does not want to earn a reputation as a mercenary, but the Rebels are expected to make him an offer he cannot refuse.
It would be worthwhile for the Rebels to make a significant investment in Barnes, who would help them to attract other players.
"I'll make a decision on all that sort of stuff when I get back from South Africa," Barnes said.
"A couple of weeks back at home and sort it all out.
"I haven't spoken to any of them (Rebels officials) personally. There's obviously a lot of talk flying around. I'll steer clear of all that sort of stuff.
"All I'm saying is that I'm happy with where I'm at. The way things are going I'm pretty happy here."
