JEFF Kennett has a dream ... for Hawthorn to be the first AFL club to field a female player.

In one of his regular letters to members on the club website, the Hawks’ president said that women’s increased participation in other fields, such as the military, proved to him that it was not an impossible dream, the Herald Sun reports.

"I still harbour a dream that will see Hawthorn have the first female player among our ranks," Kennett said.

"Impossible? Not when I think of the advances of women in the army or services generally, or in flight around the globe as astronauts, or many other occupations where the inclusion of women has changed dramatically in our lifetime."

Like Essendon who were only making up the numbers in the final 8? I think AFL should go back to a top 6 and the NRL should follow suit

But in most sports you need a good run with injuries tomake a serious assault on a title. Could also blame Hawthorn for crap selections such as going in against Sydney in Round 2 without a recognised ruckman

The tribunal ruined Essendons chance...and so did some good old fashioned agressive play against an unstable Hawks

Making up the 8? They beat 5 of the top 7 sides during the year and last years premiers to make it in...

Need a good depth in the club to stave off injuries...it's no good if you only have five superstars in the team and the rest are garbage
