Will Deans be ruthless enough: Alan Jones
By Jim Tucker
June 18, 2008 12:00am
OUTSPOKEN former Wallaby boss Alan Jones yesterday questioned whether Robbie Deans will be ruthless enough at Bledisloe Cup time to order the roughing-up of All Black duo Dan Carter and Richie McCaw.

Alan Jones is upset that he isn't good enough to get the top job.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
he needs to get over it hahaha
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
If he thinks that is the best way to win the game, then he will. He's a professional. And he coaches Australia now.
But at the same time I'm sure Deans will make sure his guys are disciplined and don't go out of their way to get McCaw or Carter. Penalties cost Ireland the game against us. There is no point trying to hit McCaw if you go off your feet at the ruck doing it and cost us 3 points. Same with Carter. If you just throw your body at him trying to knock him into next week, and he sidesteps you and takes off for a try I don't think Deans will be too happy.
As a side note, I love how all the guys turned down for the job are now making sure they get their tips into Deans...like he can't coach or something.
Must say I agree with this point. I've noticed Sharpie taking the ball without momentum over the past year and indeed against the Irish and getting caught without much ground gained, if any. It would be nice to see him coming in from a little depth, as best he can, sucking in a few defenders along the way especially around the fringes. Horwill made some good metres coming from depth and at the moment Sharpie's open play needs a little more of that oomph.Jones wants to see more from 64-Test Wallaby lock Nathan Sharpe in the upcoming Tests against France. "I don't want to see him at inside centre. It should take a Pantec (truck) to get him on the ground if he's carting the ball properly,'' Jones said.
He does make some good points but Jones for me is on par with Grumbles, as in everything they say just automatically gets put into the bulls**t bin in my mind.
The man needs to stop talking. A long holiday would be good too.![]()
I made Happy sad...
He should ask himself the same question
maybe he should go out and coach a rugby team before he starts critisizing anyone.
Sharpie is never useless!
Slag of players all you like, but never say Sharpie is useless!
Not a fan of Alan Jones, there is a reaon why he didn't get the Wallabies job and Aussie Rob did. Deal with it Jones you weren't wanted for the job, enough with the sour grapes.
How about...there are better options than Sharpe. I'm not saying that he is useless but at the moment he is redundant. Hows that sound?

The 80's is a whole lifetime away! My whole lifetime away!
Things have changed since the 80's and Rugby has changed a bit since then.
Jones is like Growden, spurting off about stuff...maybe they are long lost brothers :|
Acceptable chook.
as with KQ, i cant agree with this more. sharpie needs to get the ball at full steam. I'd like to see many people bring him down without him gaining at least 5m every run. mabye he will get a few linebreaks and even a try. It's about time for a sharpe try dont you think?Jones wants to see more from 64-Test Wallaby lock Nathan Sharpe in the upcoming Tests against France. "I don't want to see him at inside centre. It should take a Pantec (truck) to get him on the ground if he's carting the ball properly,'' Jones said.
