The NZRU has refused to comment on news coming out of New Zealand stating that one of their top referees Steve Walsh has been sacked and had his contract torn up.
Walsh was not considered for the opening month of Super 14 matches for personal employment reasons and was stood down from his his Six Nations appointment which was a potential Grand Slam decider between Wales and Ireland next month.
Walsh has refereed 35 test matches after making his test debut in 1998.
Walsh was suspended during the 2003 Rugby World cup following a disagreement with an England official when they played Samoa.
He was reportedly involved in an incident at a Sanzar conference in Sydney last month where it was reported that alcohol was involved.

Shame, didn't mind him on average.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Hmmm
Very interesting. There was obviously something brewing a few months ago. I must find out from my, um, sauces, what's up.
I thought he is/was a pretty good ref. He, on the other hand, has a specatularly high opinion of himself, from what I've seen.
And they keep those SA wankers who screw up every match...
yeh he was a good ref
BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
I would think it was directly linked to the problem a couple of months ago...
