jeez mudcrabs your really struggling for decent matierial these days

If you'd done some research you'd know that West Coast supporters leave at half time to go home and watch it on tv, Freo can't attract a crowd even when they are winning

Did you know Canberra Stadium is a converted oval?

It’s a converted Athletic Field…that's why it was built for the AIS… not a huge cricket oval…you’ll see on your road trip…Attached is a map you can find the bar...

I hope to see him get a run... brumbies have 3 halfbacks, Phibbs, Holmes and Stannard. I don't think anyone owns the 9 jersey yet...We'll have to wait and see...

The similarties are uncanny, and you yourself said it was a converted Athletics field, oval track...............see where I'm going here...............

The only real oval Cricket is played on in Australia is Adelaide Oval, with long boundaries straight down the gorund and short boundaris square of the wicket

NO matter how you dress Canberra stadium, like you said all it is is a converted athletics track

you can see it from the sky

Yes as i said its a converted Athletics track... the in-er bowl was added...

Constructed in 1977 for the Pacific Conference Games, it also was the venue for the 4th IAAF World Cup in Athletics.
In 1990 the athletics track was removed, and the ground then became the home of the Canberra Raiders (rugby league) and, in 1996, the ACT Brumbies (rugby union).
Further renovations occurred in 1997 in preparation for staging football (soccer) matches as part of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Olympic football in 2000 has initiated a stadium facelift converting the playing surface from oval to rectangular and bringing the crowd closer to the action. It is now an all-seater rectangular stadium with two main grandstands on either side of the playing field...

it is possibly the worst retangular stadium in Australia for viewing the game though..

I know we have had this discussion before, but IMO a retangular field also needs a retangular stadium, canberra stadium is nothing more then a retangular field with a oval stadium.

Its definetly better then watching rugby on a oval pitch like the Gabba, but in terms of retangular stadiums its pretty crap.

Yep I hear you… on a cold night its tough especially if your not acclimatized for the Snow Mountain South-Westerly chill factor...

So it was a cold pie....TOCC…

Canberra Stadium is still not completed at the northern and southern ends...I guess it all takes time if AUS got the FFA involved perhaps the stadium may get another up grade...I only get there a couple of times a year as I'm in Sydney. However I will go and take the kids to see the Wallabies vs Azzurri... set early for this coming international season...

so it took you 2 or 3 posts and about 400 words to admit that Canberra Stadium is a converted oval?
