The Western Force are set to sign fly-half David Harvey on a short-term contract as they look to ease their playmaker woes in the wake of the Willie Ripia affair.
They will also put outside back Tyrone Lefau from NZ national provincial championship side Counties-Manukau and a Chiefs Super Rugby development squad member on a similar deal.
Harvey is an Australian Sevens representative and winner of the 2008 and 2011 Ken Catchpole Medal for the best NSW club player.
The highest points scorer in the Shute Shield four times and a leading try scorer with Sydney club Gordon, Harvey has just returned from a spell with French club Narbonne.

Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Very happy with this he had a proven recored a very good boot hopefully he gets some game time and is not just here as a bench warmer. Maybe a 10/12 Combo with Seymour?

whats the point of a new 10, this one is from club rugby basically, and we have Seymore in the squad. I don't quite understand these things, is he going to be a run on player? surely he isn't going to help us this year.
Gaffa, who is the 12 you are talking about?
i always like to have 2 playmaking options at 10 and 12. The issue i think with our back like is we have two ball running players at 12 and 13. Meaning the wings never see the ball because of the one out pass and take it into contract. (AKA the wallabies and we know how that wrked with McCabe)
I think the 12 needs to beable to be a second playmaker so maybe with a player like Harvey at 10 we could try out a Seymour at 12 or even Mafi...Someone who isnt going to look for contact every time they get the ball who can feed it out wider and make use of the the back 3 and most of all the bloke who we are paying to stand on the wind and watch the ball NEVER get anywere near him.

At last a recognised flyhalf, yes he may be club rugby level, but has the skill set of a flyhalf.
We need to get penalty kicks over when pressurising the opposition, we need a solid but he need not be a spectacular playmaker, look at the great job David Hill did for us.
I think this is the answer with Chucky back at scrumhalf duties with Sheehan they make an awseome bring one on take one off option same as we have at hooker. Turner not there yet.

He looked very good playing for the Force A match - looked like a 10. Taking control and good boot. Not so crash in defense though

I thought we only had one spot left on the roster?

We could have signed Harvey back in January after Ripia left and had about 4 weeks with the team before the first game, getting to know the rest of the squad, been exposed to match conditions in the trial games etc, whereas now he has the chance to play against the tahs with 5 days prep before the game.

13 cummins
14 Nalaga
15 Shepherd
