It has been reported that England coach Andy Robinson is on the verge of resigning from his position following Saturday's 25-14 defeat to South Africa.
The result was England's eighth defeat in nine games, with the win against the Springboks the previous weekend not looking like being enough to save him his job.
It is understood that Robsinson will resign, although he will receive a full compensation package. He had said that he would not be walking away immediately after Saturday's game but it is thought that he has since been told to resign or face the sack by the RFU's top brass.
The former Bath coach has presided over one of the worst spells in England's history over the past two years where they have twice finished fourth in the Six Nations. An overhaul of England's structure last summer saw all of Robinson's coaching staff sacked and it seems likely that he will now follow them out the door.
World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson is believed to be the preferred option as his successor while former Ireland and Wasps coach Warren Gatland has also been mentioned.
