Sharpe looks on bright side despite injuries

Western Force captain Nathan Sharpe believes there are positives in the loss of star playmaker Andre Pretorius and Wallaby centre Ryan Cross for tomorrow's trial against the Queensland Reds.
"It's a shame but I think the positive thing for us is it helps us build our squad," he said before the traditional pre-game captain's training run at ME Bank Stadium.
"We'd love to have them there but it's more important they are there for next week's game."
He said the Reds trial was a game "for themselves" establishing the way they want to play this season.
"It's important that we look to ourselves for this first trial and then over the weekend we'll start having a look at the Brumbies and start having a bit more of a think about how to go strategically against those guys.
"You focus on that first game because it is the kick off to the season.
"I wouldn't say we've been preparing for the Brumbies match specifically but it's certainly in the forefront of our minds."
Former Force favourite Matt Giteau is still under a quad strain injury cloud but Sharpe said: "That's the news but we're expecting him to play next weekend.
"He's a competitor and he's looking forward to getting back here and playing well cloud."
He does not see the coming season as one in which the side will be rebuilding.
"There's no rebuilding year in Super 14 rugby. You want to contest finals and that's what we want to do."
He is looking ahead for a return to the Wallabies World Cup campaign after a shoulder injury forced him out of the Northern Hemisphere tour but the Force is the only thing on his mind at present.
"I want to play well with this team and get involved in finals. From there anything's impossible," he said.

I guess not, abit nervous about the season at the mo and depth we lack out wide.........I think we will see a newe game plan this year where the forwards will take charge of things we have got a ripper of a pack......
We will miss Andre tomorrow but I think it maybe a blessing in disguise as he's very injury prone. Crossy well..... prob good for him to get someone wanting his number 13. I would like to see JOC have run at 10.... Sheps back at 15
Result tomorrow: Reds 28 EWF12 but the scored board means nothing in a trial game quote JM
I think Nick Taylor might need to get a new tape for his dictaphone....
"Bloody oath we did!"
