Proudly Western Australian; Proudly supporting Western Australian rugby
Is Super Rugby playing with a 23, as some comps are in the Northern Hemisphere? You get an extra prop on the bench who comes on rather than substituting a previously substituted prop on for an 'injured' prop.
Just going by what I saw down in Mandurah Friday evening…….here goes
Goodwin ran far to up-right for a 2nd, I felt for his safety at time's. Given he's one of the tallest backs and his skill set, I would love to see him serve part apprenticeship at Fullback.
Christie gets my vote at 1st , he looked a dam site more ready than Sias did for a pro match in a wks time.
I would like Patty Delit in the mix somewhere, however he looked out of sorts on the Wing and Goodwin would eat him for breakfast at FB so I’d have him and his giant heart and smarts at 13.
CTM looked the part – expect big things.
Tupou, Rosalea and super Mafi looked in fine form.
1) Cowan
2) Charles
3) Longbottom
4) Lynn
5) MMM
6) Wykes
7) Alcock
8) McCalman
9) Mathewson (c)

12) CTM
13) Dellit/Tupou
14) Cummins
15) Goodwin/Tupou
16) Hilterbrand/Teesman
17) Manu
18) Cotrell
19) McCaffrey
20) Snowden
21) Sias/Delit
22) Junior
Just my observations after several drinks.
I’m on the fence with a few lads and haven’t looked too deeply into combos, so there are probably several options in the backs.
Our weakness – FLY HALF
.

“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
flyhalf does look like a problem pacman, but id still play Sias in the big matches. Christie still needs work on his kick for post and AFAIK the only other genuine option is SNK

for those who were there on Friday - what did Tupou look like at Fulback?
I was quite surprised when i saw him named there, and read that Foley/Meehan were training him for that position. having only seen him play the "crash ball" 13 (and play it well mind you), i wouldn't have thought he would have the positional awareness nor kicking game for 15.
Thoughts?
Yeah he did GAFFA. He looked so much more comfortable than others out there. His time and space with ball in hand stood him out head & shoulders.
he's also a bit pretty for an inside back though. A large contingent of females gathered around snikering about CTM and his picture perfect looks. I think a few Saffa forwards will line him up
yeah, i am a bit surprised by that as well. I guess Meehan wants a finisher on the wing (Alfie Mafi), good counter attack/run. perhaps he will be a kick or crash it up fullback, like what the brumbies had Pat McCabe (thanks Jargs)(cant remember his name, played 12 for the wallabies and always got held up, esp by the irish??).

I totally agree GIGS - I think it was a conversion attempt from a CTM try or a try from his kick in the left hand (northern) corner Christie attempted; ffs he lined it up poorly and the execution was amateur - He was surely injured atm?
Did Goodwin get many shots at goal last year, how did he go?

Re the discussion around the 10: AFAIK Sam Christie is EPS, so can't be in the match day 22 except as injury cover?? Don't know when SNK arrives but it's between he and KG for utility back. Sias was a little quiet in the first game but likely could have found the same space outside if he were in the second game with same blokes in positions. He'll be first choice 10.
How did Sias go in Darwin? Don't recall a lot of discussion around that.
