    Melbourne non-crowds

Anyone know what the REAL crowd figures are at the less than Super Melbourne weekend.
I'm sick and tired of hearing the bullshit from commentators saying how big the crowds are and how amazing the "buzz" is when the camera shots show different.
I'm not suggesting we could pack Optus but 10,000 a day at HBF - now how good would that be.
    Just throwing it out there.

you have to think that soon enough the "Super-Round" will move to New Zealand for a couple of years.

And then QLD and NSW are going to put their hands up.

Truth, I don't disagree that we would get better numbers than Melbourne. I just wonder when or if we get that opportunity.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

Why was this ever contemplated in the first place? Are we going to copy everything the NRL does - without anywhere near the same supporter base? It works in the north of England for RL, where you can drive to most grounds in a few hours. It works in Brisbane and probably Sydney - for RL. It was never going to work in AFL Central. I'm not sure it would be a money maker anywhere in Oz or NZ for Rugby.

I thought they might showcase the new Allianz for the Super Round this, just as a one-off. I think the other venue which would be nice would be Dunedin.

If they really want a fun day at a packed house, have it in Suva!

It was probably funded by Vic government on a tourism spend.

Sanzaar likely haven't lost out of the deal and justify it by saying they're supporting an expansion franchise.

Likely not say that while force officials are in the room tho

No doubt the Vic Govt would have paid to be the host as Govt's do for every event. I wonder whether WA Govt put their bid in for the Super Round?

It’s looking the lightest day so far 😳 I heard 15000 for Friday and 11000 yesterday. A smaller stadium would make it look better

It's played in Melbourne because the Government paid for it to be. It'll move somewhere else as soon as someone is prepared to pay more. It'll cease when no-one is prepared to pay enough.

I just hope that whatever it is making, the five or six teams losing home games to it are getting appropriately compensated.

Great game Brumbies vs blues, all 18 spectators loved it.

Good to see lots of force kit in the crowd

Meh. An old fart covering a Ricky Lee Jones song about commitment to her daughter. Riveting stuff.

When they showed a shot from the sidelines just before half time it showed how empty the camera side of the stadium was!
