Mix of old and new in NRL All Stars

Billy Slater and Jarryd Hayne will join international captains Darren Lockyer and Benji Marshall in spearheading the NRL All Stars team in the inaugural match against the Indigenous All Stars at Skilled Park on February 13.

At least one player from each NRL side was selected in the 20-man squad, which was voted on by over 50,000 rugby league fans.

The side, coached by Wayne Bennett, mixes some of the game's more experienced campaigners in Matt Cooper, Alan Tongue and Luke Bailey with exciting prospects such as Michael Jennings, Josh Morris and Dave Taylor.

Slater joins Storm team-mates Cameron Smith and Adam Blair, who were automatically selected as vice-captains of Australia and New Zealand respectively.

Brisbane's second starter was star winger Israel Folau, while Englishman Gareth Ellis will join fellow Tiger Marshall.

The Indigenous side, named in November, is led by the Titans' Preston Campbell and includes superstars Greg Inglis, Scott Prince and the now retired Wendell Sailor.
