Highlights: Brought up playing Rugby League, Gavin first tried Union at the age of 20 and it wasn’t long before Gavin’s spectacular speed and footwork had him selected in the Australian Sevens pool. Gavin was the leading point and try scorer in the NSW Premier competition in 2005 and was signed to the Western Force for their inaugural season. After making his Super 14 debut in 2006, Gavin was stuck behind the Wallabies – Scott Staniforth, Drew Mitchell, Cameron Shepard and Digby Ione for a Super 14 spot in 2007 so he chose to return to Sydney where once again he became the leading point scorer in the whole competition. Being considered as Peter Hewatt’s replacement for the Waratah’s in 2008, Gavin preferred to head overseas to continue his rugby development and he benefited from a different style of rugby at La Rochelle in France before illness to his fiancée’s mother forced them to both return to Australia. Now Gavin has sorted the family problems he is keen to hed overseas again to continue his rugby.
Personal: Off the field Gavin is a self-proclaimed sports fanatic, enjoying basketball in particular.
Did You Know? Gavin has recorded a 40m time of 4.7 sec.

interesting, good on him, he really shone in the ARC and i thought he'd be picked up by the sevens squad or one of the s14 teams... pity although im glad he has the opportunity to represent USA now.
thanks Andy
Some interesting teams represented there...
What do they call the Gentlemen of Aspen for short? The Gents?
Exactly how does he qualify as a septic??
Nice to see one from my old club Nottingham in the mix there
Must be a tough one for commentators when Chuckanut take on Bustanut in anything
About all I could find new to add TQ1.

Churchill Cup: England handles US rugby team
For a moment, the U.S. rugby team had all it could ask for against England - the lead.
The Eagles scored a surprising try to take an early lead over the Saxons during pool play at the Churchill Cup on Sunday. But England responded and never let up, crushing a tired U.S. team 56-17 for its 13th straight win.....
The Eagles were plagued with several injuries and lost the boot of top kicker Gavin Debartolo, who left the team for personal reasons earlier in the day. Fatigue left the U.S. squad scrambling on defense trying to keep up with the crisp ball movement displayed by the Saxons.

Bummer - it would have been wonderful for us to enjoy Thunderchicken's new found pride in this team as well.
61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
He'd have to be a marquee player...not likely.
Personal reasons? WTF?
It's sad that we are all so suspicious - in the olden days we would have just assumed that someone was ill or he was about to be sacked for being away from work to often.
