Palmyra took out the plate competition at the 7's yesterday, and on the way defeated the Japanese National 7's side Samurais 24 to 12 before taking on Randwick in the final. Palmyra scored first, but the Galloping Greens soon gained the lead to be 14-7 at half time. early in the second half Randwick scored again to take it to 21-7 and they looked comfortable. But they didn't count on Palmyra regrouping , and a superb try from Scott Turnbull gave them hope at 21-14. In the last seconds of the half Big Nems, Nems Momo's even bigger nephew, made a powerful break down the sideline to pass to his uncle who scored out wide. A prodigious kick from the 18 year old Wonder Kind tied the score 21 all for a futher 5 minute sudden death playoff.
Once again the youngster was given possession from a turnover and charged to the line leaving several Wicks defenders strewn on the ground on the way.Palmyra 25, Randwick 21, and WA has bragging rights over NSW club 7's at least until next year.
Well done to Palmyra & thanks for the up-date FS. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the tournament (& other photos from the trip!!!)

Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Well done Paly.....
Did you know that the Casuarina Courgars from Darwin under the the guidance of John Connolly once won the Signapore 7's many mnay years ago?
Kick arse boys, well done.
Congratulations to the WA boys! Enjoy the celebration!
awsome. go pally.i herd about the new recruit... if hes bigger then nems that is scary, i feel sorry for the opposition next season.frank who were the stand out players for pally this yr?
Thanks all. I got back early this morning and a couple of hours at the office certainly gets you back to reality with a thump.
TG, I know about Casuarina's success at the 7's, it was about 83-84 and I was there to see it. They had Frano Botica (then an All Black) in their team as well as a number of Qld first graders who played in NT in the off season. They were a great team.
They also won the jug division this year against Gove. but they struggled for numbers (only 8 players in their squad ) and came up against stiff opposition in our pool which included the fancied British Army.
Pruc, Nems nephew is, I kid you not, of Jonah Lomu size and is only 18. He's got all the raw skills and pace to make it to the very top. He was approached up there by a Super 14s team and 2 British teams with very attractive offers which he declined. I'll go out on a limb here and say he'll play Super 14's in Australia before he's 20.
Scott Turnbull and Tubs were also standouts for Pally and Nems senior and Tairi were right up there. We suffered a few minor injuries along the way but the squad as a whole held up very well and did Pally proud.
I'll try to post a few pix later in the week when I get the chance.

i heard about nems's nephew turn down the english contract. that incredible. if our pattern at singapore 7's continues we will win division 1 next year![]()
Steady, pruc, to win the Ablitt Cup you have to field a team of virtually international or Super 14's standard and even then you may not make the cut. Ask the Blue Bulls from South Africa who didn't even make the plate playoff!
yes I knowwe just need a whole team of nems's!
go the pally lads!!!![]()
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
For those interested, I've posted a few Singapore photos in my gallery, thanks to a great deal of help from Coach. He's an awesome fellow.
