Own goal to the tune of $642.8 million per year over 7 years.
The NRL has been behind a paywall on Saturday nights since forever and it rates well. The AFL has free to air coverage on Thursday, Friday and Sunday which it something Super Rugby can only dream of.
I don't think it's going to upset the AFL too much even if appears to have upset some of the fans going by a couple of articles I read today.
This has been the case since the deal was made. It wasn't emphasised so the penny is only just dropping for a lot of people.
How can Rugby capitalise? It could do that with the cooperation of 9 Stan via heavy promotion of the Saturday SR match.
