    Triple Aussie Crown

Saw it in the Super Rugby lift out on Thursday in the article "It's time to separate the wheat from the chaff" by John Welborn.

In part of his article he mention the idea of bringing in a Triple Crown style trophy like that in the 6 Nations for the four Australian Super 14 teams to bring more interest into the Aussie Derbys.

For the people who are a little unsure of what would go down the idea would be that the team that has beaten all three other Australian teams in the Super 14 competition would win the trophy so use this season for example the Western Force would be the only team able to win the Triple Crown this season as they are still undefeated against fellow Aussie teams and Tahs, Reds and Brumbies are all unable to as they have all suffered defeats from fellow Aussie teams.

I'm all for this idea but wanted to know what other peoples views on it are.

Cheers (If someone else has posted this already sorry for double posting)

i really dont think it would generate any more inerest in the australian derbies, its to late to introduce it for 2009, it could be implemented for 2010, but in 2011 the structure of the comp is going to change again, so it seems rather pointless.

I think it could become more relevant once Super Rugby changes to include the additional "conference" round.

The likely hood of one team going undefeated thru 2 rounds of home and away against the 3 other Australian teams would make the trophy all the more attractive.

The Australian Grand Slam would become one very rare trophy and well worthy of the bragging rights that it would give the holders, and the holders fans.

It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! It's too late for all the other 3 Aussie sides......except the mighty

I think I'd rather see something more like a Ranfurly Shield, played for at any home defence.
