In a league of their own, now stay there

WELL, that's the end of that then, surely. In the past seven years or so, the ARU has shelled out enormous amounts of money to secure four rugby league superstars in Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers, Lote Tuqiri and Timana Tahu. First, Sailor and now Tuqiri were summarily dismissed mid-season for misbehaviour, while after a troubled time Rogers went back to league to play for the Gold Coast Titans and has not stopped bagging rugby since, and Tahu hasn't been able to crack it for a regular spot in the Waratahs, let alone the Wallabies. In short, the experiment has been little short of a disaster and an expensive one at that. No more. What resources the ARU has should be spent from this point developing - and here's a revolutionary idea for you - rugby union players, instead of being squandered on leaguies who embrace the Wallabies jersey as a business proposition only, and not as the fulfilment of a dream. It just doesn't work. (And yes, of course Ryan Cross is sort of an exception, but he was from a strong rugby union background to begin with.)
That's fine by me
At least the ARU has confirmed to TFF that the fine money paid by the three young Wallabies for engaging in a food fight has gone to a worthy charity, in this case the Hearts in Union rugby foundation, which supports rugby players who have suffered spinal injuries. Good.
