Stormers fly-half rejects Force bid
Western Force's fly-half crisis grew more acute yesterday when Stormers pivot Peter Grant rejected a bid from the Super 14 club in favour of a rich deal with France's Racing Metro.
The Force reacted quickly by switching their attention to former Protea Andre Pretorious, yet to receive a contract extension from the Lions of Johannesburg.
"We've let his manager know we're interested and we'll put together a proposal over the weekend," Force chief executive Vern Reid said yesterday. "One thing he's already asked to see is our playing list for next year."
Further down in the article:
The Force immediately informed O'Connor's manger Anthony Picone of Grant decision and were told there was no immediate need to finalise the talented back's future
So go out and buy The West or wait until it's online sometime or until someone else can be arsed typing more of the article up

That's a shame but we move on.
BTW.....Is the player engagement rules different when they are non ARU, i.e. can you offer the sponsorship money up front?
Just happy to be here
Hopefully this paves the way for Carlos Spencer!
O'Conner will probably sign with the reds if we grab Andre Pretorious. I doubt he'll want to sit outside him and watch 50 missed drop goals per half.
at least the nay sayers cannot clain that he was lured to the west because we had a better financial offer![]()
"The main difference between playing League and Union is that now I get my hangovers on Monday instead of Sunday - Tom David
I have always been a massive fan of Pretorius. He can play and he's 'ard and very very fast. He'd be a massive improvement on the haircut brigade.
I still think the kid from QLD who plays out of position at 9 is a dead set bargain. That kid is quality when played at 10
and it's onto plan B..
Go The Force!
i thought that Grant was plan B
Maybe we need a cunning plan.

Sorry, I should have expanded on the comment.
It was in the article. It was to do with the JOC management being notified.
From the West:
"The Force immediately informed O'Conner's management...were told there was no immediate need to finalise the talented back's future"
"There's no panic", said Reid yesterday. "The O'Conner camp knows we're on the case."....He knows we've got a plan B and plan C and these things take time to sort out"![]()
Go The Force!
umm wat happened bout Fred Michalak?
BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
Wisdom happened I think!
