    NRL 9's - Perth 2020

NRL legends Brett Kimmorley and Roy Asotasi and West Australian sporting identities Olivia Vivian, Matt Hodgson and Greg Hire each took turns in randomly selecting the teams out of an official NRL Nines barrel to decide the draw.

Hodgo used to play both league and union when he was growing up and only really switched to union full-time when he was signed by us. He told us he had offers to play league prior to signing for the Waratahs, and after playing sevens, and was considering them, including as a fall-back option if we didn't sign him. He's not a snob about the sport.

How do you know they weren't using a conductive receptacle to hold the ballots? There would have been conduction in that instance!

I wonder which Western Force players would be most suited for an NRL 9s squad? I wonder what the Force's NRL 9s squad would look like? Thinking about stuff like this after watching the Rugby X from London over the weekend

As rugby nines requires 3 front-rowers (RL front-rowers), 2 second-rowers and 4 backs, and certainly for sevens back-rowers tend to act as front-rowers, I'd say the Force nines squad would be:

Alcock, Stander, Stowers, Thrush, Bardoul, Prior, Jooste, Brache, Placid. Although I can imagine Alatimu, CTM, Lacey, etc could also make the squad. I wouldn't have thought proper front-rowers like Tessman, Longbottom, etc would be used.

Would love to see Taefu and McGregor out there in the 9s.

Though I must admit, I could see Tessman absolutely loving it if he got on for a couple of minutes there!

Maybe Twiggy should have a word with the NRL? Get ourselves a guest spot along with the Pirates!
