    Reds vs Chiefs

    1. Ben Daley (Gold Coast Breakers)
    2. Sean Hardman (Brothers)
    3. Laurie Weeks (University)
    4. Van Humphries (Souths)
    5. James Horwill (c) (University)
    6. Hugh McMeniman (Wests)
    7. Daniel Braid (Sunshine Coast Stringrays)
    8. Leroy Houston (Norths)
    9. Ben Lucas (Sunnybank)
    10. Quade Cooper (Souths)
    11. Rod Davies (GPS)
    12. Berrick Barnes (Wests)
    13. Digby Ioane (Sunnybank)
    14. Blair Connor (Norths)
    15. Mark McLinden

    16. Saia Faingaa (Souths)
    17. Jack Kennedy (Souths)
    18. Scott Higginbotham (Wests)
    19. Poutasi Luafutu (Wests)
    20. Brendan McKibbin (Brothers)
    21. Anthony Faingaa (Souths)
    22. Charlie Fetoia

The curtain raiser match on Saturday night is Downlands College v St Laurence’s, kicking off at 5pm.

Daley retains the starting prop position, Horwill and Humphries return from injury and slide into the second row, McMenimen moves to blindside flanker and Higginbotham is unfortunately benched. Ben Lucas is over his injury and will start, with Brendan McKibbin coming onto the bench.

Brendan McKibbin is still a good player, he was Premier Player of the Year and highest pointscorer in the comp last year.

How is Jack Kennedy going TOCC?
Pretty heartening to see two young Props coming through...or is it just injuries forcing selection?

This should be a good game, providing the back 3 can contain Sivivatu, Masaga and Muliania on their current form.

any game with Siviatu, Masaga, Muliania, Ioane, Hynes and Cooper should be interesting to watch at least.

this will probably be the first match where he is actually tested at Fullback, the other teams havent really targetted him

Could be the game of the week... Chiefs were red hot against the Blues and the Reds were outstanding against the Sharks the week before ... good to see James Horwill back, and they'll need him this week.

Davies and Connor will be targeted and will be found wanting
That Chiefs backline has points planned and will deliver. I hope the Reds will be able to also put on 50 otherwise they will be filing out of Suncorp early

I think that we underestimated the quality of the chiefs backs and paid the price accordingly,at least the reds will can prepare for the masaga ,sivivatu factor.Problem is the other 5 backs are just as dangerous.

After seeing Masaga bumping off and standing up players since the force game, I dont feel so bad about that game now.

If the reds want to win this one it will have to start in the forwards and at the breakdown, their backs arent much good without the ball,or quality ball.

The Chiefs backs are excellent but the Chiefs backrow has been magnificent

dont forget that the Blues are defensively the worst team in the competition, they have conceded the most tries(29), as opposed to the reds(10) who have only conceded 3 tries in the last 3 matches.

Im not saying its going to be easy, but that match last week was more a showcase of extremely poor defence from both sides, yes the attack was enterprising but the Blues were pathetic at defence.

I am afraid TOCC the reds will get smashed by the shear physical nature of the the chiefs they will put up a good show but there will still be 20 points in it. Reds wont be able to throw the ball around and get away with mistakes
