I'd hazard that membership numbers in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne might be quite low as there is never any risk of a sell-out, and most times you can pick up good tickets in the week beforehand (or even on the door). Canberra and us have smaller stadia with a higher proportion of seats filled, so there's probably a higher drive to get a membership to get good seats.

Which all sounds fantastic, but we'd sold all 10,500 of the COVID allocation for game one and only got 7,500, so ticket sales isn't a really good indicator.

Fair to say we would have got more that that tho

Didn't the 10,500 limit include support staff, meaning the 7,500 was actually max?

I was told players, support staff, security, catering etc plus the full allocation of corporate tickets whether they attended or not.

There were no COVID limits on the Reds game - just the requirement to wear masks.

I reckon it was just the looming lockdown, and the rush to get out of town before midnight of the long weekend, which kept fans away.

In my small section in the Eastern stand, 3 of 4 regular punters, weren't allowed to attend for the sake of harmony at home.

I’m not convinced the five team format has been proven right G.

Yes the Force have proved their worth, but as they have risen so the Waratahs have fallen – to the point where they are not a team of genuine SR quality.

I doubt the qualifying final will be anything other than typical Finals football, esp with the two sides involved! Could well be a tight one.
In short the Force have come good at the expense of the Tahs, I fail to see how the Force's success has anything to do with the Tahs problems, We took one player from the Tahs ONE! in return we gave them Carlo Tizzano, I would think we're even and the problems at the Tahs have nothing to do with the arguments often touted as the reasons why Australia can't field 5 competitive teams.

Nicholas Bishop clearly has the brain of a pot plant.

I assume the 5 team format was insisted on by RA as it gives an extra game to sell to TV networks.

The Tahs woes are the fault of the Tahs and no one else.

And I'm suggesting you give Nick Bishop too much credit when you suggest he has a pot plant for a brain

Exclusive: Star Wallaby to miss Super Rugby final

    April 29, 2021 3:26pm
    CHRISTY DORAN@christypdoran

Queensland’s push to claim their first Super Rugby title since 2011 has taken a hit, with Hunter Paisami to miss the next week’s home final.
It can be revealed Paisami has a fractured cheekbone.

The 23-year-old Wallabies centre, who along with teammate Harry Wilson were Australian rugby’s breakout stars in 2020, left the field late in the first half during their 30-27 shock loss last week.

Paisami – the straight running centre – was clobbered in a crushing tackle from Tevita Kuridrani. He took no further part in the match, as the Force sealed their maiden finals campaign by staging a 21-7 come-from-behind win.

Following his injury, the Reds won’t release anyone from their squad to play club rugby in Brisbane this weekend. The Reds, who lost last year’s inaugural Super Rugby AU final in Canberra, will host the winner between the Brumbies and Force on May 8.

Since making his Super Rugby debut last year, Paisami has been the most potent back in Australian rugby.

He offers a run-pass-kick threat and without him the Reds are a shadow of the team when he’s on the field. Brad Thorn’s men are guilty of playing laterally without the straight-running threat of Paisami, who has quickly earned a reputation as a tackle-busting midfielder.

The Reds didn’t score a try following his departure against the Force and a fortnight earlier struggled to break the line against the Brumbies when he missed the game because of a hamstring injury. In the end, the Reds shrewdly changed their tactics after 50 minutes and opted to put boot to ball to get past the Brumbies.

With Paisami ruled out, the Reds could shift Jordan Petaia from the wing to outside centre – the position he played during the Wallabies’ World Cup quarter-final loss to England in 2019 – but it comes with a risk.

Petaia was moved away from the wing because his passing game remains a work-on and because of that oppositions aren’t fearful of the same triple threat Paisami offers.

In Paisami’s absence Josh Flook has worn the No.13 jersey recently.

Yet given the similar physical and playing attributes of Flook to inside centre Hamish Stewart, the Reds will consider shifting Petaia back closer to the action.
