Now, I understand that Russell Woolf has be named Patron of the Perth Spirit is this true?
Brother Gallagher I hear you
Had a good chat with Rusty at the awards night in the lepers lounge. Down to earth bloke who loves rugby and knows his stuff. One of the few broadcasters in Perth that talks about the game. Yesterday he was talking to Henjak on air. If he gets the gig...excellent choice. We need all the help we can get to promote the game.

The more new Rugby supporters the better. Good job by the Force media bloke I'd guess too.
You can listen on line to at abc.net.au and look for the local radio link choose Perth otherwise it is 720 am and I'm hoping they stick to the pattern of 5:30 on a Friday - I like his show too and he has interviewed heaps of the Force guys this year - the one that got me was an interview with Sharpie - who asked after his bowling team - RW sort of crumbled on air and said something like he couldn't get over the humility of Rugby Athletes - who were so different from AFL players

Nothing wrong being a AFL and Rugby fan. He impressed us with his rugby nous.

Agreed TLH most people enjoy more than one sport - at the moment the whole AFL thing is a bit of a soap opera and the sports sections of most programs here have turned into Entertainment/Gossip sections - especially with Beckiham in the US as well as all the problems both the Dockers and Eagles have at the moment- I'm over it - and find it especially frustrating if you want some info on the Spirit or any sport as opposed to pictures of Posh on the telephone in the sports section

Hardly expect any local Rugby coverage TQ1, the papers just recycle the East coast articles a few days later and the Spirit won't get a mention over there
Yes, that is meant as a challenge to up your game West Australian and Sunday Times...

I noticed some pretty good TV promotion of the ARC on Foxtel this weekend. The ARU must be funding that as Fox has not taken it up AFAIK. But they could be preaching to the converted.
ABC TV Perth has been the shining light for FTA Rugby coverage in this town since the arrival of The Force. The ARU should target some of those dollars to promote their ARC coverage on the commercial networks. I reckon that's the best way to attract some parochial new supporters.

I'm a big fan of the ARC advert, although I imagine there may be a few sensitive types who object to AJ Gilberts pig![]()
