    I know what it was.

Oakley wanted to publish something NICE about the force. Grumbles died of fright and shot the editor. Twice. With a pie gun. The editor ran out of the building, wearing smushed pie and awesome western force boxers and an 09 jumper, signed by Matt Giteau, who secretly told Oakley he is gonna stay for 09 and beyond, running around singing 'I love the force!'. Then pieman hurled a newspaper at him and chased him out of the world. Grumpy, evil old man. Expect more force-abuse churning outta that factory soon.

Or Oakley just got bored of abuse, and left. Can't say I blame him, I'm bored of it too!

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

I heard Oakley was seen having secret lunches with the Brumbies. This confirms my suspicions from my article in 2002 where I was the first to report that Oakley might leave the SMH to play prop for the Brumbies.

SMH wanted their Chief Rugby Correspondent to cover cricket last year…didn’t happen… but know with the redundancies kicking in he may have to cover more sports…

so....we can expect to be told that the entire WA cricket team is going to NSW?

That's hardly news in cricket. The only way to get in the test team is to play for the blues isn't it?

    Rightfully so

the WA top order is as useless as my ability to come up with an amusing analogy at the moment

Dunno... if you replace the word with the word Ponting, he'd do a respectable impersonation of Peter Roebuck

Interesting that there was no Rugby articles in the SMH / Rugby Heaven today, a Saturday after a major tour.
