How the hell does their lineout captain get named ahead of our lineout captain?
Bit of a 50/50 for me. I didn't see the Brumbies game so not sure how their #5 did. But I'd say there wasn't much between Vickerman and Sharpe. But at the end of the day you gotta pick one. Neither of them stood out to me (at least not as much as they usually do).

See my post in this same topic from a few weeks ago. Growden is just looking to cover his ass for later in the year. He needs to make sure his Tahs get picked enough times so that he can justify picking them in his Wallaby 15 later in the year. It would be embarrasing for him if he picked his Wallaby 15 and then someone pointed out that various players were only the best in their position 1 or 2 times in the year.

Although one has to wonder if Growden even cares what people think of him. Guess if he runs out of Rugby news he can always run his report on top 5 pies of the week.

Mark Chisholm wasn't that crash hot he dropped a bit of ball and wasn't up to the level of the other forwards around him. Ali Campbell wasn't so fantastic in field play either but the Brumbies ran riot over the Blues line-out. As for Vickerman, generally speaking when I watch Sharpie and Vickerman together for the Wallabies Sharpie seems to always play better than Vicks but maybe Vickerman is doing stuff on the field that I don't really notice. Credit to Vickerman this week though for making 35 tackles. Thats about 1 every two minutes of play.

How can you expect Growden not to pick Beale? I mean its about the only opportunity he gets when Giteau's off the field and the selection is within a country mile of being credible. Don't doubt that he'll do it again next week.

Slight error in this weeks team as it does not include the entire Waratah team. Growden has no idea.

AUSTRALIAN TEAM OF THE WEEK 19/4/08

    15 Mark Gerrard (ACT) (4)

    14 Lote Tuqiri (NSW) (4)

    13 Adam Ashley-Cooper (ACT) (2)

    12 Rob Horne (NSW) (1)

    11 Francis Fainifo(ACT) (1)

    10 Kurtley Beale (NSW) (2)

    9 Luke Burgess (NSW) (3)

    8 Leroy Houston (QLD) (1)

    7 Phil Waugh (NSW) (5)

    6 John Roe (QLD) (1)

    5 James Horwill (QLD) (1)

    4 Dan Vickerman (NSW) (6)

    3 Matt Dunning (NSW) (3)

    2 Tatafu Polota-Nau (NSW) (4)

    1 Benn Robinson (NSW) (4)

(Number of times selected in brackets).■ Horne is No.12 rather than at No.13 because there were no outstanding inside-centres, and the youngster had a fine game.

Player of the round: LUKE BURGESS. A spectacular running game by the NSW halfback. He can start being measured up for the Test No.9 jersey.

Try of the round: MORGAN TURINUI. There's still some speed left in the veteran's legs.

Not even 1 Force player. Even though it is rare that they actually get picked, this says something.

I hope 'Aussie' Rob doesn't use this to pick the Wallabies?

Hey just a thought though...in brackets it says how many times a player has been selected right?

TG you seem to abreast of the situation and have plenty of time on your hands - can we have all the players picked, by position in rank order?

In the next 10 minutes would be good...
