It would be pretty epic if we had Victor Matfield as a player/coach.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Ha Ha. Matfield. Biggest backs coach in the world.
We don't need any more forwards coaches and Sharpie will do quite nicely for a line out specialist thank you.
Even so, what could he teach the team about a winning mindset and attitude? Let alone hints from the guts of the scrum...
Sharpie is wanting to spend time back east with his kid/s (Hertryk?).
He has serious ties to WA now, but I believe it would be in everyone's interest (except Hertryk maybe) if he had a chill out year or two before coming back "home" for a serious ongoing involvement. That said, while passionate about the Force, he may not actually want to have a life in coaching.
To be able to entice Victor to be the specialist Lineout Coach role, even as a part time role from the Republic, would be a massive coup as possibly the only recent player to out play Sharpe in lineout management. Perhaps even more so, he would offer enormous insight into developing a winning mindset and culture to a young squad.
As for Mulvers, welcome back, let the good times roll

C'mon the

Sharpie's been busy behind the scenes. Foley alluded to him making contact in the middle of the season to come west if he got the boot from the Tahds. Done deal now. Maybe Sharpie can't commit to line out coaching next season so to help us out suggested his most respected adversary - Matfield?
From Victor Matfield's Wiki profile:
"Matfield retired from the Springboks after the 2011 World Cup, and intimated he would consider a coaching career in Australia, perhaps with the NSW Waratahs"
